The University of Cyprus was established in 1989 and admitted its first undergraduates in 1992. In 1997 began offering graduate programs. Currently operating six schools, twenty-three sections and Research. It has 1.000 staff and 6.000 students

University of Cyprus (Economics Research Center) commits to:

 

1. Fleet management of University of Cyprus (UCY)

(a) Inspection and maintenance of University vehicles on a regular basis to confirm the operational capacity and safety.

(b) Purchase of vehicles with the highest security standards.

 

 2. Education of staff and students

 (a) Organization of training seminars for staff and students on Road Safety.

 (b) Production and / or transmission through  the UCY Voice of road safety messages for students.

 (c) Competitions and events on road safety, for the University Community.

 

 3. Creating a safer environment on the premises of the University of Cyprus

 (a) Construction of a pedestrian and bicycle paths within the campus for safe movement of pedestrians and cyclists and people with special needs.

 (b) Construction of bridges for the use of pedestrians and cyclists and cycling networks and the connection with the networks of the Aglantzia local authority.

 

 4. Research - Actions

 (a) Surveys to all members of the university community (students, academic and administrative staff) regarding use of vehicles, density of students by region and possible solutions / applications / routes of public transport to reduce the number of private vehicles on the roads.

 (b) Other research in collaboration with the Department of Psychology as regards to road behaviour.
