The kindergarten ¨Materská škola - MŠ Dénešova¨ is located in Košice, east part of Slovakia. The kindergarten has 6 classes and offers several additional activities: English, bicycling, folk dancing, creative studio, dancing studio, art studio and psychomotor activities.

We will commit to the European Road Safety Charter with the project ¨Bezpečne na ceste¨ (Safety on the road).

• Where and how they can play outside to not be in danger,
• Learn the Highway Code with bicycles, rollerblades or other types of transport vehicles for children,
• How to behave like a pedestrian, ¨Vidieť a byť videný¨ (See and be seen) - the usage of the high visibility clothing with retro reflective stripes to be easily seen on the road,
• The development of psychomotor skills by riding a bicycle from 2 years and roller skates.

• The children from 2 years will develop special skills in children’s cars and they will learn about the traffic sign - zebra crossing on the schoolyard,
• The children from 3 years will acquire theoretical knowledge from the workbooks ¨Safety to the school¨. The workbook consists of different Road Safety tasks, which children will do with the teachers once per month,
• The children from 5 years will use scooters, bicycles, and roller blades. The theoretical knowledge of traffic signs and the usage of safety tools children will acquire through practical usage of traffic playground in the area of the school and also outside,
• The children will be able to obtain ¨the license for bicycle¨ if they pass through the traffic playground following the Highway Code. This will be organized once a year with the co-operation of Police Force,
• Children can use the scooters, bicycles and roller blades to the way to/from the school to ensure the support and cooperation from the parents in strengthening the cognitive and social abilities during the whole school year,
• In collaboration with parents we will specify dangerous stretches of the road to/from the kindergarten and we will regularly inform the parents,
• We will actively engage children and parents to the exhibition of art works, so they will have to draw a picture or create a three-dimensional vehicle on Road Safety topic once a year,
• We will verify the coordination skills and abilities of the children during the ¨Family Week¨ in collaboration with the Olympic committee once a year. The child will have to drive the children´s vehicle from one point of the city to another. The parent will go by walk with the child and together they will accomplish different tasks.
