The European Commission announced the winners of its annual Excellence in Road Safety Awards which recognize six most innovative and successful initiatives undertaken by the European Road Safety Charter Signatories. Recipients were honoured at the Excellence in Road Safety Awards ceremony which took place on 2 December 2009 at the Berlaymont Building in Brussels.

  The Excellence in Road Safety Awards ceremony, the most important event of the European Road Safety Charter initiative, was held on 12 November 2008 in Brussels.

The European Road Safety Charter Excellence in Road Safety Awards were presented by Mr Jacques Barrot, Vice-President of the European Commission, in Brussels on 26 November 2007

Excellence in Road Safety Awards 2006: The European Commission wished to celebrate the great number of road safety actions and initiatives being undertaken within the framework of the European Road Safety Charter.
