Frederiksberg Municipality, with a population of approx. 95,000, is the fifth largest municipality in Denmark. Frederiksberg's area is 8.7 sq. km., with a density of about 10,000 inhabitants per sq. km. The local authority has approx. 6.600 employees.

The Municipality is responsible for the maintenance of 81 km. of public roads.

It is the aim of Frederiksberg Municipality to reduce by 40% the number of people killed, seriously injured and slightly injured by the end of 2012, as compared to the figures of 2005. To achieve this goal Frederiksberg will work with the following steps.

 

The municipality will annually publish a report describing the road accidents taking place in Frederiksberg. The report provides a basis for identifying the precise lines and intersections, where most accidents occur. The outlined sites will be analyzed and proposals for improvements will be submitted for performance to the Municipal Council.

 

The latest report from the Accident Investigation Board Denmark (Havarikommissionen) shows that driver behaviour is largely contributing to the accidents that occur. Frederiksberg wants to influence driver behaviour through campaigns in the Municipality. In cooperation with the Municipality of Copenhagen, we will influence driver behaviour throughout the capital area through innovative campaigns developed in the recently established Capital Traffic Board (Byens Trafikråd). A large and a small scale new campaign will be carried out every year to come; the Municipality will annually participate in a series of nationwide campaigns; and each year a specific campaign is developed targeting children just starting school.
