Selbstverpflichtung

Scania Latvia commits to the European Road Safety Charter with the following activities:

• Scania Driver Support - Starting with 2010 Scania Latvia commits to install in all new long-distance trucks a unique driver training system, which follows driver's driving style during the journey and encourages a safe way of using the brakes, starting to drive, driving in the mountains and changing the speed.

• To implement driver trainings for truck and bus drivers who carry out commercial operations. The main objective of the training is to optimise the fuel consumption, minimise environmental impact and improve safety on the roads. Training sessions last five days and it is possible to provide training for 120 to 400 drivers per year.

• Young European Truck Driver competition – in 2012 Scania will organise another competition, which would include drivers from all European countries in order to prove their safe driving skills. The competition aims to encourage professional behaviour on the road, which provides greater opportunities for avoiding accidents and thereby save lives, as well as lower fuel consumption and pollution on a global scale. Scania Latvia will actively participate in this competition and will organise local selection in order to choose delegates to the final round in Sweden.
