International Symposium on Heavy Vehicle Transport Technology – HVTT12

 | Signatory Event
The 12th International Symposium on Heavy Vehicle Transport Technology (HVTT12) is presented by the International Forum for Road Transport Technology (IFRTT), again with the aim of providing a forum for discussions and the exchange of ideas amongst legislators, road administrators, academics and consultants, vehicle manufacturers and suppliers, transport organizations and transporters.

Throughout the world, countries are faced with a growing freight task.  Despite the rapidly-developing road infrastructure and heavy vehicle technologies evident in many countries, the challenges regarding safety, congestion, productivity, community expectations and the environment remain.  Governments and organizations are required to develop and adopt standards and technologies that not only ensure the safety and sustainability of the transport environment and facilitate optimum productivity, but that are also sufficiently flexible to incorporate new technologies for both vehicles and transport infrastructure.  Standards must thus be designed to provide better transport outcomes in the future.
Following on from the very successful 11th symposium in 2010 in Melbourne, with the theme “Balancing Competing Needs”, this symposium will focus on the importance of setting future standards in the key areas of road safety, road network performance, energy and the carbon footprint, innovative and high productivity vehicles, ITS implementation and vehicle-infrastructure interaction. It will also address related issues such as heavy vehicle transport policy, freight volumes and trends, logistics issues, co-modality and community issues.  Together with the planned plenary sessions and other opportunities to exchange ideas with fellow attendees, this will be a truly excellent heavy vehicle transport technology conference.
We are expecting to have delegates from all six continents, with over 60 technical papers for presentation and discussion. There will be four plenary sessions as well as a stimulating evening programme to facilitate social contact, with informal get-togethers and a conference dinner.
We look forward to meeting you in beautiful Stockholm in September 2012.
