Vilnius Traffic Safety School will renew its commitment to European Road Safety Charter for the next three years with the following activities:

 

Because of high death rates (especially among young people) on the roads, in addition to our regular activities (regular traffic safety education), we will prepare, publish and disseminate the school newspaper, “The Green Eye of Traffic Lights” (one issue per month) featuring articles on traffic safety.

 

Safe traffic behaviour is lacking on the roads. Therefore, during the school year, we will organise preventative traffic safety lessons for 10,000 secondary school children.

 

Because of carelessness about traffic culture and safety, we will organise the following activities: competitions, quizzes, festivals, cultural-educational excursions, international pupils’ conferences and summer camps.

 

Driver preparation is incomplete. We will train pupils in order to enable them to obtain their bicycle, motorcycle, or car driving licence (they will learn about the Highway Code).

 

There is a shortage of traffic specialists. In order to change this, we will train qualified teachers (trainers) and managers and afford them the opportunity to increase their qualifications. Our school will organise seminars and conferences for teachers from all over the country (usually twice per school year).
