"ACI PER IL SOCIALE" - PROTECTING VULNERABLE ROAD USERS
This project aims to protect such vulnerable road users as the elderly, disabled, foreigners, etc. by removing the obstacles hindering their right to safe mobility. The project intends to realize a series of activities and services of great social import and widespread throughout the territory - including a dedicated membership scheme -, in determining the policies aimed to protect vulnerable users. As to road safety in particular, the project includes special courses designed for the different categories of vulnerable users to learn or refresh traffic rules and to become aware of the causes of road crashes that are most common for each category due to specific circumstances or recurrent behaviours (driving under the influence, hearing-impairment, use of the mobile phone when driving).
READY2GO - DRIVING SCHOOL NETWORK
ACI is creating a high quality driving school network, offering innovative education programme in compliance with the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) standards. Prospective drivers attending the school are made aware of the road risks and taught the most correct driving techniques, besides outstanding information on: how to prevent accidents, driver attitude, safety and environmental aspects of vehicles, eco-driving, sanction and enforcement system, defensive driving principles. Schools are equipped with a driving simulator machine developed by the ACI Safe Driving Centre to give learner drivers a progressive approach to real driving. Schools are also equipped with electronic devices to practice with driving theory tests before booking the official test. Besides the traditional practical driving lessons, additional lessons are offered in safe driving areas, where learner drivers can test their skills in difficult situations they are likely to experience in the future, such as poor visibility or different road conditions.
