TU Braunschweig Institut für Verkehrssicherheit und Automatisierungstechnik

Germany | School & Research

The objective of the institute is to contribute - via academic research and teachings as well as publicity - to road safety by the use of automation of traffic flow and vehicles on road. Number of staff: 30

Compromiso

Due to the insufficient education of young car drivers, we offer drivers' safety training through the lecture, 'Road Safety' and to the apprentices of the Institute. The goal is that at least 50 % of students take part in this training programme.

In order to raise the general population's awareness on road safety, our Institute is going to organize an open house concerning traffic safety in the year 2009. On this day, road safety in research, science and technology will be presented to the public. The target audience is particularly young drivers, prospective students and students.

Exchanges of experience in the scientific field will be encouraged through the international congress, FORMS / FORMAT (Formal Methods for Automation and Safety in Railway and Automotive Systems), to be held every two years. We will aim to attract at least 150 individual participants for the next congress December 2010.

As there is an insufficient number of scientific textbooks on road safety, we will carry out further research and draw up a textbook with lecture notes on the topic of road safety.

Duration of commitment: 2009-2011
