AAS BALTA is one of the leading insurance companies in Latvia. AAS BALTA is part of the UK insurance group RSA Group (Royal Sun Alliance Group), which is one of the world's leading international insurance groups with 300 years of experience. AAS "BALTA" employs about 750 people.

One of the AAS "BALTA" main objectives is to promote road safety by supporting road safety events and by explaining the importance of road safety.

 

AAS "BALTA" commits in cooperation with the Safe Driving School during the Volunteer week in 2010 and in the coming years to hold seminars in approximately 10 Latvian schools, possibly more depending on the funding, which would amount to approximately 300 students. We will educate pupils about road safety, road user behaviour and the causes of accidents, as well as about traffic accidents prevention. We will organise a campaign about safe cycling, because cyclists also are road users and each year there are hundreds of accidents. In addition, will be popularise and distribute reflectors in the darker areas (a total of 1,000 reflectors will be distributed), because even with such a small measure it is possible to save lives of pedestrians. 

 

In collaboration with the Safe Driving School and SIA "Latvia Statoil" every year during early spring we plan to organise an information campaign on safe driving on the roads during the early spring, which is a particularly dangerous period due to the black ice and potholes on the roads. 

 

In order to continue to care about safety on the roads (for vehicles, people, pedestrians, cyclists, children, etc.) we commit to organise other informative and educational campaigns in collaboration with the Safe Driving School and SIA "Statoil Latvia". 

 

In 2010 we plan the following activities:

 

1. Workshops:

 

§ Safe driving lessons in secondary schools in Riga and Latvian regions. In collaboration with White and "Latvijas Valsts celi" (in November)

 

2. Events:

 

§ Traffic safety in spring. In collaboration with the "Latvijas Valsts celi", "Balta" and "Statoil Latvia"

§ Educational video and practical tips about drivers´ responsibility and passengers´ co-responsibility in the car.

§ "Balta" and SIA "Statoil Latvia" campaign on safe driving behaviour held in gas stations

§ Practical tips for driving in winter. In cooperation with car dealers. Safe driving tips on AAS "BALTA" home page.

 

We will evaluate our actions in the end of the first commitment year in order to decide on the actions needed in the 2 following years.
