SIA "Latvijas Mobilais Telefons" was founded in 1992 and is the first and the largest mobile operator in Latvia. Besides its principal activity – providing of voice transmission - LMT, as well as leading mobile operators worldwide, develops services related to data transmission, wireless Internet access and third-generation mobile services.

In 2010-2012 we commit to organise and support Young Road Users Forum. Children from all over Latvia from age of 10 to 12 participate in the forum which is a way to teach road safety principles with interesting methods. In 2010 forum will be held on the following dates: from April 15 to May 30 - the first phase; on June 4 and 5 - second round (Latvian finals); from September 24 to 27 - the third round (European competition). The dates of the following year are to be defined in the end of each year. About 2000 Latvian children participate each year in the Forum.

The Forum aims to increase children's knowledge of road safety and traffic regulations, first aid to victim of an accident, design of a bicycle, as well as to improve the bike driving skills in difficult situations on the road in order to reduce the number of traffic accidents, where children are injured or killed. We want to teach pupils correct behaviour on the road, as well as respectful and tolerant attitude towards other road users and race participants.

 

LMT is also planning to distribute at least 1,000 reflectors per year to primary school pupils, so that they are better visible on the road in the dark hours of day.

LMT will also evaluate the possibility to organise an informative campaign against use of mobile phones while driving.
