
On 1 February 2011, Mr Siim Kallas, Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Transport will award six outstanding commitments to the European Road Safety Charter of 2010.
The Excellence in Road Safety Awards ceremony will take place on 1 February 2011, at the Square-Brussels Meeting Centre in Brussels, Belgium. The Awards honour the most innovative practices carried out in the framework of the European Road Safety Charter during 2010. The European Commission recognises the numerous actions undertaken to improve road safety and save lives on European roads.
Prior to the ceremony, the European Road Safety Charter team – together with their invites, signatories from all over Europe – will host workshops on the following issues:
- International Road Safety activities in the decade to come
- Occupational Road Safety: how to build an integrated solution
- Road Safety in the city: how to improve vulnerable users’ safety
The workshops will start at 2.30 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony at 5 p.m. and a cocktail at 6.30 p.m.
