FITSA is a non-profit foundation created in 2001 with the mission of "promoting research, innovation and training in the fields of traffic safety and, environmentally friendly vehicles and the relations between the automobile and the society. Located in Alcobendas (Madrid) currently employs 11 engineers and supporting staff (full and part-time).
FITSA develops its activities in areas such as: eSafety, research and training in traffic safety, crash investigation.

FITSA Foundation commits to undertake the following actions:
- To continue publishing a bi-yearly (both as a brochure and as a downloadable document from the Internet) “Traffic Safety Barometer”, that collects traffic performance indicators in Spain regarding safety and the environment.
- To continue publishing scientific studies on the cost and benefits of new car safety and environment technologies.
- To continue promoting the adoption of e-call (automatic emergency call) in Spain as well as other key technologies like alcohol locks, ADAS (cruise control), etc.
