Sitoumus

The actions of our commitment are aimed at informing, training and awareness building about the problems of alcohol and /or drug consumption and how they affect driving. The trained and experienced local police officers assigned to the Section for statements and traffic accidents investigation will give free talks to pupils (future drivers), as well as to already experienced drivers, in the road safety training centres, which will include:

• Showing statistics of accidents and their consequences.

• Teaching methods of investigation with breathalysers and drug kits.

• Consequences of such behaviour (administrative, criminal, penalty points, etc.).

• Clarify all doubts that one may have regarding this issue (false beliefs, myths etc.).

In order to carry out these actions, we benefit from the support of the Road Safety Training Centres, which have offered us their facilities and their theory professors anticipate the subject being addressed, so that we may study each issue in depth during the lectures. The duration of each session is from 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the flow and the questions that may arise upon completion.

Posters will be distributed, informing the date, hour and centre where the lecture will take place in order to obtain maximum publicity in the local area and that all kinds of citizens who are interested in the subject may attend.

A statistical study will be performed after each session during which several items are assessed, such as number of attendees, average group age, gender, age, possession of driving license, journey patterns etc. A copy of this study will be handed to the centre for information and by means of all the studies carried out, values of indicators will be obtained, which are then analyzed in order to determine changes in the content of the programme, method etc.

These actions will be developed in 4 phases during the next 3 years, updating data and actions. In each of these phases lectures will be given in almost all Road Safety Centres in town (12 to 15). An average attendance of about 15 pupils per session is to be expected.
