National Association of Commercial Companies and Automobile Reparations (ANECRA)

Portugal | Association

The National Association of Commercial Companies and Automobile Reparations (ANECRA) is a commercial association which represents and defends the interests of its 3,850 associates. In addition to institutional representation, ANECRA has various help-desks for their associates and partners. It has 28 employees.

Engagement

  1. We will look for an entity to jointly prepare a leaflet which is destined to give recommendations about good practices in driving. The goal is to raise awareness amongst drivers to adopt safer practices of driving. The leaflet is meant for drivers and a young audience. The launch will be presented in the mass media. This leaflet will be distributed: By the associates of ANECRA (3,850 companies) to their clients, at meetings organised by ANECRA (more than 2,000 participants per year) and at the ANECRA website.
  2. We intend for drivers to obtain a free assessment of the functioning of some of the safety systems in their vehicles at garages associated to ANECRA, especially the light systems and windscreen wipers of the vehicles that arrive at these garages, whether to carry out a specific service, or be it to benefit only from this free assessment. The driver can opt to repair the deficient components. We will draw up lists of participating companies with addresses and telephone numbers which will be advertised on the ANECRA website, sent to the mass media and to various entities. ANECRA guarantees that an employee will attend to the public, informing those interested about the nearest participating garage. Before the start of the campaign a presentation will be held at a press conference. At the end a report will be published with results of the assessments performed.
  3. ANECRA will send between five and ten newsletters to all the associates per year, in which will appear reports on legal alterations with regard to traffic circulation, such as:
    • Alterations to the highway code
    • Transport of children and agricultural workers
    • Use of reflective vests
    • Extraordinary technical inspections
    • Use of tachographs and speed-restrictors
    • Transport of merchandise and assembly of pallets on vehicles
    • Systems for the frontal protection of automobiles (protection of pedestrians)
    • Recognition and use of safety belts and other retention systems
    • Bright signposting of cyclists
  4. We will participate in the National Strategy Working Group for Road Safety, which intends to create a program with technical information about safety in vehicles. One of its main goals is to develop a program with technical information on safety in vehicles. It intends to create awareness about the purchase of safer cars so that when (mainly fiscal) conditions are studied, these vehicles will be preferred. Furthermore, it intends to create conditions for improved marketing of vehicle safety.
