CONFARCA (ex Confedertaai)
Italy | Association
A driving school association that ensures that members are kept up to date, calls for initiatives with the Ministry for Transport, and organises technical workshops and meetings on road education and safety. It has two employees and approximately 2,500 members throughout Italy.
Engagement
Confedertaai, the association of driving schools and offices, undertakes to promote the culture of road safety with a series of free triennial projects. The actions will take the form of:
- Information campaigns about the use of helmets, seatbelts and ESP/ABS in Italian schools. The campaign will involve approximately 30 schools throughout Italy, and another 50 driving schools will be mobilised. Lessons will be taught with groups of up to 100 children at a time. Educational material will be produced for the teachers and information for the pupils. We plan to produce approximately 50,000 sets of material and 100 DVDs.
- Courses on the incompatibility of alcohol/drugs and driving for our teachers and, consequently, all of the pupils. We plan to involve some 50,000 pupils and 200 teachers from driving schools. Another 50 courses are planned.
- Driving refresher courses for people over the age of 65. Some 300 driving schools throughout Italy will be involved, and we plan to hold approximately 1,000 courses with the participation of 10,000 elderly people.
- Information campaigns to highlight the severity of the problems linked to commuter traffic, which has been underestimated to date, trying to improve the concept of sustainable mobility and road safety. We will identify appropriate slogans and produce different types of posters, which will be put up at bus stops, railway stations and underground stations.
- Over the next two years, we intend to initiate cooperation with the association of psychologists in order to find road users who have committed serious offences.
The aim is to raise awareness among approximately 100,000 people over the next three years.
