AULA_SMART is a foundation for the development and incorporation of new technologies in the education sector. The foundation has two headquarters in Spain, in Madrid and Málaga, and has 11 employees. It operates nationwide and has over 10,000 schools registered.

In order to achieve its objectives (the incorporation of Information and Communication Technologies [ICT] in the field of education), the AULA_SMART Foundation has signed up to the European Road Safety Charter for three years, and undertakes to carry out the following:

• The use of new technologies in education promotes heightened attention and interest on the part of students and better assimilation of content taught. As such, over the next three years, we will provide financial assistance, through specific subsidies, to approximately 1,000 road education centres, in order to incorporate the latest advances in education technology in their classrooms. As a result, the road education lessons taught will have greater influence on the students, who will learn more and therefore make better use of their knowledge. The use of ICT in education has an influence on learning by increasing retention and motivation levels. Applied to road education, it will reduce the number of road accident victims.
• We will give approximately 2,000 teachers the necessary training to incorporate ICT in their usual teaching methods. We will do this by creating specific training courses, which will be taught by the education department of the foundation. The aim is to prepare teachers properly in order to focus the attention of their students through new technologies. Training will be free of charge.
