Bulgaria Vita Association, based in Dobrich, Bulgaria, is involved primarily in the construction and launch of a stem cell transplant centre in cooperation with Russian doctors from the Neyro Vita clinic. The centre is essential for 30,000 Bulgarians, the majority of whom have been affected by traffic accidents. The 28 members include public personalities and parents of victims, and they work as volunteers.

Our commitment to the European Road Safety Charter includes:

1. Providing educational material and books for special road safety classes from three schools and two nursery schools in the city of Dobrich. Educating children at nursery schools 8 and 27 in Dobrich about the principles of respecting traffic regulations. Donating four bicycles to the nursery schools to further the children’s education.


2. Organising a special day, entitled “Save the Pedestrian”, to raise public awareness through the following actions:
   
   • Painting pedestrian crossings
   • Painting graffiti on the topic of road safety
   • Competition for cyclists
   • A puppet show entitled “The rules story” (relating to road safety)
   • Closing event with 30 kites featuring messages and traffic signs
   • Free advice for victims of traffic accidents at Dobrich City Council


3. Equipping a playing field with 18 traffic signs for child cyclists and preparing a rulebook containing rules and an explanation of the signs; adding horizontal signs in Sveti Georgi park.


4. Training a special team of five patrols of young people, who will control conflictive traffic spots at peak times. These people will be given special training by the traffic police.
   
   Having evaluated the results of these actions, the association will draw up a new action plan for the coming years.
