Former F1 star David Coulthard stars in a new advert promoting safe driving on country roads.
The Road Safety Scotland campaign which was launched by Transport Minister Keith Brown shows Coulthard giving a step by step explanation of good driving practice.
The brochure "Road Safety 2011 - How is your country doing?" contains statistical information on each Member State’s road safety progress between 2001 and 2010. It seeks to enable Member States to compare their situations and encourage them to continue their efforts regarding road safety.
The prevalence of illegal drugs varied considerably between countries. In most countries, cannabis was the most common illegal drug present in the bloodstream of both drivers killed and drivers seriously injured.

The EU is introducing a harmonised licence model and minimum requirements for obtaining a licence. This should help to keep unsafe drivers off Europe's roads - wherever they take their driving test.
