In connection with the ACCORD* project three partners’ meetings were held with the participation of Safe Kids China (China), Responsible Young Drivers (Luxembourg), TOP-25 (Belgium) and “Open Youth”. They were carried out from 21 to 29 of March 2012 in the cities of Beijing, Hong Kong and Chongqing.
The first one took place in a Chongqing primary school. It was part of a Safe Kids China Road Safety prevention campaign, addressed at children. The European partner organizations’ representatives took part in demonstrations for crossing the road as part of the "Stop, look, cross" initiative. During the meeting a plaque was signed by various public figures and organizations, who declared their commitment towards the prevention of traffic accidents as part of the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 in China.
The second meeting was a training seminar for teachers, involved in the campaign “Stop, look, cross”. During the seminar the ACCORD project was presented.
The third meeting was held in Beijing and was devoted to the EU/China initiative ACCORD. It was attended by students, to which the aims of the project and the European experience in Road Safety were presented. Mr. Daniel Vankov, chairman of "Open Youth" and the president of TOP-25, Mr. Axel Druart, presented tools, used in European Road Safety campaigns. Some of them were demonstrated to the students. The young people expressed their enthusiasm and interest in the theme. They also declared their commitments to share the meeting’s experience with their peers in the forthcoming initiatives in the framework of the ACCORD project.
