Road accidents are the leading cause of death among young people from 18 to 25 years of age. In order to change this, we undertake to continue carrying out the following initiatives:

 

1 - To conduct 150 field operations per year targeting 18 to 25 year-olds in places where they gather and during festive occasions (such as festivals, gala evenings and student parties) in order to raise their awareness of risk behaviour by means of adapted preventive material: alcohol simulator glasses, SIMALC (software for a blood alcohol level simulator) and documentation.

 

2 – To promote the European Design Competition. This initiative seeks to raise the awareness of young Europeans aged between 16 and 30 years of age with regard to wearing safety gear on two-wheel motorised vehicles by encouraging them to design their dream gear. Following the first edition in 2010 concerning motorcycle helmets, in 2011 young Europeans will be invited to design motorcycle gloves. The competition’s first edition raised the awareness of more than 20,000 young Europeans and received 110 entries from 14 countries.

 

3 - To provide training for members of student associations which organise events so they can gain the necessary know-how for developing road safety systems and can therefore efficiently intervene at parties and soirées. The training we propose will be complemented by the intervention of professionals in the field of road safety and prevention acting on the departmental level.
