Alfred McAlpine Infrastructure Services commits to undertake the following actions in order to improve road safety:

1. Throughout our commitment to the Charter (2006-2009), we intend to improve our vehicle accident/incident reporting and recording by updating our existing accident/incident reporting database to include a road traffic accident facility and introduction of "Post Accident Interview". To carry out this action, we will collaborate with Health and Safety Solutions, the IT specialists involved in the development of the AMIS AIRline system.
   
2. We will adopt a standardised method of licence verification which confirms an employee’s entitlement to drive, identifies what exactly the employee is entitled to drive and distinguishes between those drivers most at risk from the accumulation of points, as well as ascertaining how exactly penalty points were incurred in the past. In this way, AMIS will be more aware of an employee’s driving history. All Compliance Managers and Contracts Heads require involvement to aid with roll-out throughout our organisation.
   
3. Improve driver competence through the provision of effective information, instruction and guidance material. This will be in the form of Toolbox Talks and Guidance notes. We will also provide vehicle Incident Packs for drivers, offering road safety advice and accident/breakdown guidance. A Safety Stand Down will be organised to promote available information in relation to occupational road risk.
   
4. We are concerned about the high number of speeding offences on the roads. We will help to reduce this number through better analysis of endorsements received. To carry out this action, Alfred McAlpine Asset Management will be required to develop improved recording and analysis of endorsement received.
