Safety and Mobility for all - The winners of the 2012 international contest
The international final of the “YOUR Ideas, YOUR Initiatives” competition was held at the Cité des Sciences et de l’industrie on June 8, coinciding with Renault’s launch of road safety month.
The young finalists presented their projects to a jury of professionals who, for the first time this year, chose three winners by age group.
An impressive number of countries worked to introduce road safety initiatives this year, particularly in the immediate vicinity of schools.
Children’s competition (7 to 11 year olds)
1st prize: Slovenia
The children succeeded in changing the traffic flow on the street in front of their school!
The previously two-way road is now one-way and also features special access for people with disabilities.

Teenagers’ competition (12 and over)
1st prize: India
Fire or six accidents a week are avoided thanks to preventive action, plenty of education and new rules for everyone!
For their first-ever “YOUR Ideas, YOUR Initiatives” competition, the middle school students in Delhi worked to direct the intense traffic outside their school during entrance and exit hours.
2nd prize: Croatia
Thanks to a special website, a Facebook page, films, quizzes and video games, the Croatian teenagers are now experts on road safety. These digital technologies were rounded out by conferences and awareness-raising initiatives in collaboration with the local police force and the Croatian Automobile Club.
3rd prize: Turkey
The teenagers created a special road safety system for children in nursery schools.
The Turkish Education Ministry is even considering implementing the system at all the nursery schools inIstanbul.
After the final, all the participants enjoyed a well-deserved weekend of fun at Disneyland Paris.
