The United Federation of Danish Workers (3F) wishes to continue and strengthen its road safety promoting actions:
3F is a partner in the recurring project "Road Safety at Eye Level." The aim is to spread knowledge about dangerous situations around big trucks. The target audience is "Mr. and Ms. Denmark" and focus is placed on public school children in 3rd and 4th. grade and their parents. In 2009 12,000 school children were trained, and a number of events were organized. 3F will continue this engagement and during the coming years work will be done to reach an ever broader audience and incorporate new elements in the educational program according to 2009 evaluations.
3F has a large ownership in the transportation industry board on education: The Transport Training Board of Denmark (TUR). In the years to come, 3F will work together with TUR on including even more road safety education into training and materials at all levels and use the Websites for increased information.
3F is a partner in the transport sector educational fond (Transportsektorens Uddannelsesfond, TSU). TSU carries out many road safety initiatives. Among others, TSU has a number of truck and bus simulators, in which instruction in safe driving is offered. These simulators generate traffic situations that put the driver's abilities under pressure, without the risk of damages. TSU also carries out research and analyzes i.e. how the diet, exercise and health status of each driver have an influence on traffic safety. Most lately, it has been proven that a driver on "junk food" has a 16% slower reaction time than someone who eats healthy food.
In 2009, several of F3s members have taken part in the user-driven innovation project Sundvej (Healthyway) (http://www.sundvej.com/). In 2010, F3 will help disseminate the project's recommendations via its website.
The 3F campaign "Sundhedstjek" ("Health Check") will continue in 2010 and is a concrete action taken as a result of new insight about the ways in which health and road safety is connected. From a travelling F3 bus the members of the association will be offered health checks undertaken by nurses. In 2009, 650 members accepted the offer and effort will be done to broaden out the reach of the project over the years to come. 3F will furthermore work to influence decision makers for health-checking to be offered at all Danish workplaces as part of a public sector program.
Finally, 3F will continue to increase and gather resources on road safety on its website.
