OCU - Organización de consumidores y usuarios (Organisation of Consumers and Users)
Spain | Association
The Organization of consumers and users, OCU, is an association located in Madrid whose objective is the defence, representation and information to the Spanish consumers.
Compromisso
The undersigned, OCU - Organización de Consumidores y Usuarios (organisation of consumers and users), represented by Antonino Joya, has decided, on its own initiative, to apply measures that go beyond the applicable regulatory requirements, namely:
Improving vehicle safety in the event of impact, both for occupants and pedestrians, by means of the publication of independently performed analyses. These appear in the magazine entitled Ocu Compra Maestra, which has a circulation of 280,000 and a total number of 700,000 readers. We aim to make manufacturers aware of the need to make vehicles that are increasingly safer, not only for the occupants, but also for pedestrians. In turn, we inform users as to the safest cars on the market, indirectly encouraging manufacturers to make their products safer.
Likewise, concerned about child safety in vehicles, the OCU will publish independent analyses of child car seats, so that users are aware of the need to fit these safety mechanisms and so that they can find out about the safest brands on the market, also encouraging manufacturers to make more effective, safer seats. Both publications will be issued over a three-year period (2006-2009).
