Compromisso
Applus+ Education in Automobile Safety commits to perform the following actions:
- New plan for the dissemination and use of retention systems, with particular attention paid to seatbelts and child retention systems. The first dissemination measures will include the holding of the Seatbelt Conference (6 October 2005) and the preparation of educational material in order to provide training at the university and other centres.
Also, a number of industrial engineering end-of-year projects will be carried out, the first of which is entitled “Modular child retention system that can be adapted to different ages”, with an execution period from September 2005 to December 2006.
Another initiative to be taken as part of this measure is a doctoral thesis on the workings of child retention systems upon lateral impact, with the following programme: presentation of the thesis project to be made in September 2005, work to be carried out until June 2008, and discussion of the thesis to take place from September to December 2008.
- New plan for dissemination and education regarding active and passive safety systems in automobiles, including the programming of conferences and specific seminars, workshops and courses aimed at secondary school and university students, as well as professionals in the sector.
The initial action to be undertaken includes the Seatbelt Conference (October 2005) and the new Accident Reconstruction Course (Autumn 2005) for policemen in Badalona. February 2006 will see the start of the postgraduate course and optional subjects at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia: “Computer Simulation of Passive Automobile Safety Elements”, to take place from September 2005 until February 2006, including a field trip to Idiada A:T. This subject will be taught up until the academic year 2008-2009, and a study of the change in student habits related to vehicle safety will be carried out, the initial results of which will be presented in 2007. The definitive version of results will be presented in Autumn 2009.
- Start of the first phase of the BIA Project in Autumn 2005, with a trial duration until the end of 2005 and a second phase to take place from the start of 2006 until the end of 2007. These phases will be accompanied by a subsequent data analysis, and the results obtained from the study will be presented during the final quarter of 2008. This project aims to accumulate an extensive database of traffic accidents in the urban sphere of the city of Barcelona and establish a relationship between injuries suffered by those involved in the accidents, the type of accidents and resulting deformities, and the workings of the vehicle safety systems.
