The development work of the municipal police in urban traffic focuses on car accidents towards pedestrians which are the leading causes of serious accidents. For this, we will focus on the elderly who are the most afected by this type of accident, as well a security infrastructure with special interest in enhancing the features aimed at preventing such accidents. 1. USER BEHAVIOUR - We will conduct road safety talks in retirement clubs, in collaboration with the Government of Navarra, regarding drivers and pedestrian behaviour. - We will increase preventive controls within the city regarding Alcohol testing, ITV (Technical Inspection of Vehicles), motorcycles, etc.. conducted by the Local Police. 2. INFRASTRUCTURE SAFETY We will implement the following: - Installation of traffic lights with a countdown timer, lighting, expanded sidewalks and elevated pedestrian crossings to ensure the reduction of speed, ease the transition and increase security. - Replace fencing to prevent pedestrians crossing the road in dangerous places. - Placing of speed reduction facilities. - Reinforce the supervision and the maintenance of vertical and horizontal signaling specifically at dangerous areas. We commit to carry out these actions over the next 3 years in collaboration with the Government of Navarra, Navarra Institut of health workers and Federation of Navarra County Councils.
