Martin is situated on the Turiec river in northern Slovakia, between the Malá Fatra and Veľká Fatra mountains, near the city of Žilina. With 60,020 inhabitants makes it the eighth largest city in Slovakia. It is the centre of the Turiec region and the District of Martin.

We commit to European Road Safety Charter in next 3 years with activities focused on improving safety and smoothness of traffic in the city Martin in collaboration with city police.  

• In the morning and afternoon policemen will stop the cars in front of zebra crossing close to kindergartens and elementary schools and enable the children to get safety to the school.

• In order to raise awareness in field of road safety we will visit elementary schools and kindergartens and organize prevention activities to increase the education of children.

- In collaboration with Slovak Red Cross highlight the seriousness of the traffic collision, where the life and health of the person are in danger, - Once a year organize visit of traffic playground, where children can verify their knowledge.  

• In order to decrease fatalities of young people we increase alcohol controls of young drivers.

• We will distribute reflexive vests and reflexive stickers to the kindergartens, elementary schools and senior clubs.
