The Faculty of Transport educates students in the degrees of Bachelor, Master and Doctor in automobile, rail and air transport. It carries out research work in the field of transport modes, transport equipment and technology and in dynamics, strength and reliability of transport systems.
Compromisso
The Transport Faculty of the Technical University of Sofia will sign the European Road Safety Charter for the next 3 year period with the following actions:
1. Throughout the current 2010/2011 academic year, the Transport Faculty of Technical University of Sofia will promote the principles of the European Road Safety charter among its 550 students who are being educated in the areas of road safety; traffic accidents; passive and active traffic safety. For this purpose, it will organize lectures and meetings on the topic with students and young researchers from the faculty throughout the year and depending on the success, throughout next years. The first one will take place in May 2011, where we will present to the students and discuss the main problems related to road safety.
2. We will intensify research activities in the area of active and passive safety systems of vehicles. For this purpose, the faculty will apply for funding from Fund ´´Scientific Research´´ of the Ministry of Education. Upon receiving funding the faculty will initiate research on two topics:
- The difference in braking properties and features of the vehicles under various road conditions.
- The efficiency of different methods of traffic organization.
