Compromisso
The Perpato association for people with mobility problems commits to the European road safety charter for the next three years with the following actions:
1. We will organise events in the form of educational meetings in the city of Komotini in Greece. Our focus in these events will be infrastructure safety and road user behaviour. Our first event will take place between the 8th and 10th of April at a central part of Komitini. Citizens and representatives of the local public institutions will be invited to attend. An example of an activity that will take place for infrastructure safety in our events is the following:
We will invite citizens attending to sit on a wheelchair and try to go to specific parts of the city so that they can see the difficulties and dangers that disabled people face. Especially when cars are parked in front of pavements blocking the entrance of a wheel chair.
2. We will print out approximately 10 000 informative leaflets that will have a section on correct driving behaviour. Especially on behaviour that does not affect the ability of using the road network by other citizens who may have disabilities. These leaflets will be distributed in the local schools in our events and will be available in our premises.
3. We will print out 10 000 mobility guides of our city. These guides will provide the reader with guidelines and a map of accessible and safe points for disabled people when commuting in our city. They will be distributed to disabled people members of our association and will be available also at our premises.
