Paterna Local Police wishes to sign the "European Road Safety Charter", in order to contribute to halving the traffic accident toll. Paterna Local Police undertakes to encourage training and raising awareness initiatives, as well as supporting the investigation of accidents and social actions in order to achieve the raised objectives. The main commitment of the Paterna Local Police affects the education of school children and their families, of their employees and, generally, of all road users.

The main action is based on the principal objective, that of enhancing knowledge and changing attitudes regarding the use and enjoyment of public roads, as pedestrians, drivers and passengers, in the interest of road safety.
All this will be done by teaching, in more than 20 local centres, with over 1000 pupils, the cross-curricular subject of road safety education.

These activities are aimed at primary and secondary school pupils. All the subjects have been developed with content suitable for the level of the students, with the main objectives being the same as those set in educational legislation, especially "appreciating the basic values that govern life and cohabitation and acting according to them, as well as understanding and establishing relationships between facts and phenomena of the natural and social environment and actively contributing, where possible, to the defence, conservation and improvement of the environment."

The methodology used starts from the Police introducing the issues which can then serve as a means for the students to share their ideas and experiences with their classmates, thus exercising and developing them for the general enrichment of the group. This is achieved through various activities which involve cards, watching and commenting on videos, blackboards, games etc.

In addition, we will organize sustainability campaigns; throughout the year we will work directly with the local centre for students with disabilities, trying to get them to achieve the greatest possible independence.
