Services for the citizen. The Municipality of Polla has 5,305 inhabitants.

Over the next few years we will be holding information sessions and training in local schools (7 schools, with a total of 600 students) watching DVDs on the topic. We will also be involving citizens by distributing leaflets and posters about how to drive safely and watch out for pedestrians by publicising the European Charter of Pedestrian Rights.

For this purpose, we will be manufacturing 500 booklets, 5,000 flyers, 100 posters, 100 DVDs.
Public awareness of the project will be raised through the press and media.

Polla Municipal Administration will be carrying out a considerable amount of road-safety education in the schools (project: “Take good care of your life, while you are young – you’re neither invincible nor immortal”) as a way of informing people about road-safety issues.

The project will be divided up as follows:
Project “Mini Traffic Wardens” – training course carried out on the road during the children’s summer holidays.
Project “If you fall, your helmet will save you” – a competition open to high school students.
Project “Let’s walk to school alone” – for pupils from local schools.
Project “Let’s go to school by bike” – learning to respect the environment by using bicycles.
Project “Road safety summer camp” – helping kindergarten children to learn the highway code through games.
Project “Disciplined lorry driving” – an awareness campaign for safe and careful driving aimed at drivers.

All of these projects will be coordinated by the Municipal Road Safety Observatory.
