Commitment
Over the next three years, we will carry out the necessary information, awareness raising and training actions so that employees involved in the transport of dangerous goods by road, as well as their corresponding associations, guilds, managements, trade unions and administrations have greater knowledge as to the risks, to increase their qualifications and so that they can promote actions that strengthen road safety in the sector, in order to save as many lives as possible.
- For the training of Catalonian police officers (Mossos d'Esquadra) we will add a four-hour block free of charge to raise awareness about road safety issues, paying particular attention to defensive driving. This training will be given in addition to their usual courses, which tend to take place over 70 hours and deal with risk prevention topics in the field of road transport of dangerous goods, with a focus on road inspection. A total of 50 officers will be trained every year.
- We will carry out awareness actions and promote road safety values among the safety advisers. This will be done by way of expert days, with the use of website resources, as well as through the sending of regular bulletins. Currently, there are about 200 associated advisers; the forums in which the information will be posted are visited by over 2,000 people every month.
- In addition to the courses on the risks of the transport of dangerous goods that we teach, we will provide a two-hour block free of charge including content on road safety. We will target drivers and managers of companies dealing with the road transport of dangerous goods. Every year, approximately 1,000 people will be trained. These two hours will be spent on defensive driving as a key tool to ensure the reduction of accident rates.
- We will submit proposals and initiatives to the Subcommittee for the road transport of dangerous goods of the Spanish Ministry of Public Works in order to improve road safety. We will draw up reports to promote concrete improvements in road safety, applicable in particular to the road transport of dangerous goods, proposed by our members and associates. We will act as the spokesperson for all those groups without representation who wish to submit their own proposals. These materials will be posted on our website, which is visited by 4,000 people every month.
