The International Road Safety Academy (IRSA) is a not-for-profit association based in Amsterdam. IRSA receives contributions from its members and receives donations from private industry. They develop not-for-profit programs and “train-the-trainers” of first responders (police, paramedics & fire fighters), equiping them with knowledge, updates, training programs and developments.
The IRSA commits to undertake the following actions in order to improve road safety:
Over the next three years (2006-2009) we will organise not-for-profit training with road safety experts and crash researchers from around the world at the Madrid Police Academy (Spain). We seek to continue building traffic police officers’ skills to handle crashes, post-trauma care, traffic education and incident management, in order to introduce a more standardised approach to primary aid. We will publish information concerning the above on our webpage so it can be accessed by everyone.
Over the next three years (2006-2009) we will organise not-for-profit training at the Bucharest Police Academy in order to improve traffic police officers’ skills in handling crashes, post-trauma care, collection of crash data, analysis, technology usage and incident management. The training model will be subsequently extended to Moldavia, Serbia, Turkey and North Cyprus. Training will be given on monthly basis to classes of 20 students. We will publish information concerning the above on our webpage so it can be accessed by everyone.
Over the next three years (2006-2009) we will provide young people (15-18 years of age) with up-to-date and concrete information on traffic and its safety factors. To do this, the IRSA will carry out not-for-profit traffic education programmes in the secondary schools in the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Spain. Starting in 2005/2006, IRSA plans to visit over 100 schools in The Netherlands, 50 schools in Spain and 50 schools in the Czech Republic. A total of approximately 50,000 pupils will have contact with this training. We will publish information concerning the above on our webpage so it can be accessed by everyone.
